Kui Kim 1994. aastal esimest korda golfikepi kätte võttis, tegi ta Põhja-Korea ainukesel golfirajal tulemuse 38 alla pari, sealhulgas 11 hole-in-one’i. Seejärel otsustas ta igaveseks golfist loobuda.
